Art Lessons

I'm now teaching art lessons. Sessions can be afternoons, evenings, or weekends. Ages 12 and up, please. I emphasize classical techniques and a strong foundation in drawing as the first priority, but I'm well versed in a variety of methods and techniques - I also teach digital painting and photo retouching. For more information, check out my lessons page.

New Website!

Finally, I finished the new and improved website. My CSS skills were iffy at best, and I'd never really used PHP or MySQL before. But, it's not so different from a JSP with an Oracle back-end, so once I actually buckled down and started working, it went pretty quickly.

The shiny CSS page layout is a Ruthsarian Layout. Isn't it lovely?

Feel free to browse the buttons to the right -- I think they are all working now, but I haven't finished all my testing yet. If you should happen to find a broken link or an error page, please let me know and I'll go fix it!

A Couple of Caveats

Because I'm trying to display my artwork at a decent viewing size, I have images that will display up to 600px wide. If you have your monitor set to a low resolution, this may interfere with the navigation on a few pages. But, the "home" button at the top of the page will always be accessible, and your back button should always take you back where you came from.

Also, please be aware that the dimensions I list for my artwork are approximations, and may not be precise enough for you to, say, buy a frame for without actually having the print or original in-hand. This goes for any time you buy art for framing -- don't buy your frame until you have the art, because a scant quarter inch could make a big difference when you're framing.

In Internet Explorer 5 or earlier, the text color may not appear correctly. I'm working on fixing this problem. The website seems to be compatible with most other browsers and operating systems. If you find that it isn't, please let me know!

2006 Dragon*Con Art Show

If you are visiting here because we met or you saw my art at the 2006 Dragon*Con Art Show, then welcome! I had a great time this year, and met so many wonderful, amazing people. I'm already giddily planning next year's trip! The handouts for my panels are available here: Digitally Coloring Lineart for Beginners (PDF) and How I Learned to Stop Pirating Software and Love the GIMP. If you liked the art we used in the coloring lineart workshop, you should definitely take a look at the rest of Kaysha's gallery.
